Senior Mining Engineer / Engineering Supervisor

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:

 Provide engineering expertise and engineering supervision for all aspects of an underground longwall mining operation. 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: 

• Support safety action plans and processes to meet company safety objectives
• Oversee adherence to permitting conditions and insure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Manage all aspects of the mine ventilation engineering, with expertise in longwall ventilation, ventilation surveys, ventilation fans and models
• Manage and direct the underground engineering and surveying staff.
• Preparation and submittal of mine plans to State and Federal agencies
• Maintain mine mapping, including semi-annual and annual map submittals
• Oversee plugged gas well mine through permitting
• Month end production and royalty reporting
• Provide engineering support and design for the mine/plant water supply and pumping systems
• Preparation of mine plans, roof control plans, and mine ventilation plans
• Engineering of conveyor and rock dust systems
• Coordinate and optimize the short and long term mine plans with operations
• Prepare mine seal plans and coordinate construction
• Construction management of projects and facilities as required, including underground construction, earthwork construction, shafts, slopes, buildings and utilities
• Plan and execute special projects as required
• Interface with mine site, corporate, and government regulatory personnel
• Cost analysis of projects

 PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 

• Bachelor of Science Degree in mining, civil engineering, or equivalent field
• Ten years of responsible engineering experience
• Professional Engineering Registration
• West Virginia Underground Mine Foreman's Certification
• Proficiency in underground surveying methods
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD and SurvCAD
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• Excellent safety and attendance record
